Compressed video indexing based on object motion

چکیده
Compressed video processing for the sake of content based retrieval saves time of the expensive decoding. In this paper , we process the compressed MPEG video data for the motion analysis of its contents. Two motion components are differentiated from each other. Firstly, the object's motion; the change in object’s co-ordinate throughout consecutive frames. Secondly, the camera motion resulting from the camera effects such as zooming in and out, and panning right and left,...etc. A trajectory is constructed for each object and represented by a spatio-temprol representation . Video objects are indexed by the actual motion of the objects, independent from the moving camera motion.

Motion and shape signatures for object-based indexing of MPEG-4 compressed video
The emerging MPEG-4 standard enables direct access to individual objects in the video stream, along with boundary/shape, texture, and motion information about each object. This paper proposes an object-based video indexing method that is directly applicable to the MPEG-4 compressed video bitstreams. The method aims to provide object-based content-interactivity; thus, de nes the audio-visual obj...
متن کاملObject - Based Indexing of MPEG - 4 Compressed Video
The MPEG-4 object-based coding standard, designed as a common platform for all multimedia applications , is inherently well-suited for video indexing applications. To fully exploit the advantages ooered by MPEG-4, however, a reconsideration of existing indexing strategies is required. This paper proposes a new object-based framework for video indexing and retrieval that treats as the basic inde...
متن کاملCompressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard
Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...
متن کاملCompressed Domain Video Segmentation
Segmentation of video into shots and scenes in the compressed domain allows rapid, real-time analysis of video content using standard hardware. This paper presents robust techniques for parsing MPEG-compressed video sequences into shots based on their physical structure and further into scenes based on their semantic structure by identifying changes in content and camera motion. The analysis is...

Fast and eecient storage, indexing, browsing, and retrieval of video is a necessity for the development of various multimedia database applications. This can be achieved by analyzing the video directly in the compressed domain, thereby avoiding the overhead of decompressing video into individual frames in the pixel domain. Our compressed domain parsing of video performs shot change detection an...
